Choosing what to wear for engagement photos is one of the biggest stress points for couples, but it doesn’t have to be complicated.
The goal is to choose outfits that photograph well, coordinate with each other, and most importantly make you feel confident.
The biggest tip I give couples is to dress like you’re going on a nice date, not like you’re going to a wedding and not like you’re going grocery shopping. Somewhere in the middle is perfect.
Colors that photograph beautifully:

Super trendy outfits that might look dated later
I always recommend bringing two outfits:
Casual outfit
Dressy outfit

This gives your gallery more variety and makes your engagement session look like two different days.

Flowy dresses photograph beautifully because they add movement, and layers like jackets, sweaters, and hats can add variety to photos as well.
The most important thing you can wear is confidence. If you feel good, your photos will look good.
