There are some wedding venues that are beautiful, and then there are venues that give you an entire experience for your wedding day. A Gilmore Car Museum wedding is one of those venues that truly feels like more than just a place to get married — it feels like a full wedding weekend experience.

I had the opportunity to photograph the Wilson wedding at the Gilmore Car Museum, and it was one of those wedding days that had so many unique locations and moments built into the venue itself.

One of the things I love most about this venue is that everything can happen right on the property, but every part of the day still feels like a new location.

Getting Ready at the Farmhouse

The Wilsons started their wedding day getting ready in the old farmhouse on the property, and it was honestly the perfect getting ready location. There was so much natural light coming through the windows, plenty of space for everyone, and it felt calm and relaxed — which is exactly how a wedding morning should feel.

Getting ready spaces make a bigger difference than people realize when it comes to wedding photos. Clean spaces, good window light, and enough room for everyone helps the morning feel organized and stress-free, and it also makes getting ready photos look so much better and more timeless.

The farmhouse at Gilmore Car Museum is perfect for this because it feels cozy, historic, and bright all at the same time.

From a photography standpoint, this venue is incredible because it offers texture, history, and variety.

Some venues are beautiful but limited in photo locations — this is not one of them.

We can create romantic portraits, editorial-style images, candid documentary moments, and classic family photos all in different areas of the property.

Ceremony & Antique Car Ride

After their ceremony, one of the coolest parts of the day happened — the venue provided them with an antique car to ride around the property and take photos in. This is one of the most unique things about a Gilmore Car Museum wedding and something that makes the wedding gallery completely different from any other venue.

Instead of immediately going into family photos or cocktail hour, they were able to take a few minutes together, ride around the property, and we captured some really fun and unique portraits with the antique car. It gave them a quiet moment together and created some of the most memorable photos of the day.

Another reason couples love this venue is because guests actually have something to do during cocktail hour.

They can walk through the museum, look at the cars, explore the property, and truly enjoy the experience rather than just waiting around.

Summer House Reception

Their reception was held in the Summer House, which is such a beautiful reception space. It has so much character and feels elegant while still fitting the historic and vintage feel of the property.

The Summer House is great for receptions because it has plenty of space for dinner, speeches, and dancing, but still feels warm and inviting rather than feeling like a huge empty hall.

One of the best parts of this space from a photography perspective is the soft light and the way the room photographs during speeches and first dances. It creates a really romantic atmosphere in photos.

Sunset Portraits in the Field

Right before sunset, we went out to the field on the property for sunset portraits, and this is something I recommend to every couple getting married at Gilmore Car Museum.

The open fields at sunset create the most beautiful golden light, and it’s the perfect time during the day for couples to step away for a few quiet minutes together. Sunset portraits are almost always some of the favorite images in a wedding gallery because the light is soft, warm, and romantic.

If you are getting married at Gilmore Car Museum, I always recommend planning 10–15 minutes into your timeline for sunset photos in the field. It is always worth it.

Bar Portraits Inside the Museum

Another really unique part of this wedding day was that the coordinator allowed us to go inside one of the bar areas to take some couple portraits. These ended up being some really fun and different photos that added even more variety to their wedding gallery.

This is another reason I love this venue — there are so many different locations and backdrops that your wedding gallery ends up looking like multiple venues in one day.
